Shortlist Member Service Agreement & Terms of Use

Welcome to Shortlist. We are thrilled to partner with you on this journey to finding a meaningful connection. Because matchmaking is a deeply personal collaboration, we’ve laid out these Terms and Conditions in plain English to ensure we are both on the same page from the start.By using our website or signing up for our services, you agree to the following terms.

1. Our Commitment to You

Shortlist provides a personalized, boutique matchmaking service. Our role is to search for, vet, and introduce you to potential partners based on the preferences and values you share with us.

  • A Human Approach: We do not use "bots" or hidden algorithms. Our matchmakers personally review every profile to find a genuine fit.

  • No Guarantees of Love: While we are experts at what we do, chemistry is unique to every individual. We cannot guarantee that a match will result in a date, a relationship, or marriage. Our commitment is to provide you with quality, vetted introductions and professional support.

2. Your Commitment to Us

To give you the best experience, we ask for the following:

  • Honesty & Accuracy: You agree to provide truthful and complete information about yourself (including age, marital status, and background).

  • Eligibility: You must be at least 18 years old and legally single (divorced, widowed, or never married).

  • Respectful Conduct: You agree to treat our staff and the people we introduce you to with kindness. Harassment or inappropriate behavior is grounds for immediate termination of your membership without a refund.

3. The Matchmaking Process

  • Introductions: When we find a potential match, we will share a "blind" or semi-anonymous profile with you. Once both parties express interest, we facilitate the introduction.

  • Feedback: After an introduction or a date, we ask for your honest feedback. This is a vital part of the process that helps us refine our search for your next match.

4. Fees & Refund Policy

Our fees cover the time, expertise, and resources our matchmakers spend searching for and vetting your potential partners.

  • Lithuanian Consumer Rights: In accordance with the laws of the Republic of Lithuania, you have a 14-day "cooling-off" period starting from the day you sign your contract.

  • Work Started: If you ask us to begin providing the service immediately (e.g., conducting your interview or creating your profile), and you then choose to exercise your 14-day right to withdraw, we reserve the right to withhold a proportional amount to cover the work already performed.

  • Service Performed: Once the service is fully performed (e.g., your profile is active and the search has commenced), the right to a refund is waived. Fees are generally non-refundable outside of the statutory cooling-off period.

5. Privacy & Confidentiality

Your privacy is our priority. This isn't just a policy; it’s the foundation of our business.

  • Total Discretion: We will never post your photos, full name, or contact details in a public space. The only people who will see your profile are our matchmakers and the potential matches you’ve agreed to be introduced to.

  • Mutual Confidentiality: Trust goes both ways. You agree to keep the identities, photos, and personal details of the people we introduce you to strictly private. Sharing a match’s information with third parties or posting about them on social media is strictly prohibited.

6. Safety & Personal Responsibility

While we vet our clients through personal interviews, Shortlist does not perform criminal background checks.

  • Personal Responsibility: You are responsible for your own safety when meeting new people. We always recommend meeting in a public place for the first few dates and letting a trusted friend know your location.

  • Limitation of Liability: While we do our best to ensure everyone in our community is sincere, Shortlist is not responsible for the behavior, actions, or outcomes of any client or match outside of our direct professional interactions.

7. Pausing or Ending Your Paid Membership

  • Putting it on Hold: If you meet someone or simply need a break, you can "freeze" your membership for a set period defined in your package. Please note that memberships cannot be paused for longer than 6 months. After 6 months of inactivity, your contract will naturally conclude to ensure our database remains fresh, and no refunds will be issued for remaining time.

  • Cancellation: You can end your partnership with us at any time by notifying us in writing. We will respect your decision and securely archive your file in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

8. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Lithuania. Any disputes that we cannot resolve together will be handled by the courts in Vilnius.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may occasionally update these terms to better reflect our services or changes in the law. If we make a significant change, we will notify you via the email address on file.

By proceeding with our service, you are saying "Yes" to these terms and "Yes" to a new chapter in your dating life. We can't wait to get started!
